Bard:Live! Programs
Rachel Nelson's BardLive shows are theatrical shows or thematic concerts blending songs, stories, and poems into a unified whole. BardLive shows can be designed in collaboration with the group presenting the program. As part of this design collaboration, Nelson offers to compose an original tune or song for each BardLive performance venue.
Rachel has performed BardLive shows in theaters, fringe festivals, reading conference keynotes, libraries, churches, state parks, schools, senior residences and clubs, graduation parties, and universities.
BardLive shows available for touring include After Leaving Eden and Finding Our Place.
The BardLive concept grew out of Nelson's desire to use all three of her oral arts - song, story, and poem - in live performance. All of these oral art forms were part of the work of the old bards. "My roots are in traditional music," Nelson explains. "BardLive is my way of saying that my freshest creative work falls within an arc that reaches back to the old traditional bards. I stand within their tradition of live performance."
